Making an Impact, One Life at a Time
Big 5 Tanzania sponsors 10 primary school students at Kyosei English Medium School in Terrat Ward, near Arusha. The school provides education and community support for low-income families. Unlike public schools, instruction is in English, which gives these kids the foundation they need to continue their education.
Big 5 Tanzania enabled George to pursue a degree in accounting at Mzumbe University in Morogoro. George lost his father in 2024, leaving his mother to manage on her own. Despite high academic marks, college was beyond his grasp. While at school, George joined a university initiative to help an orphanage. “It was [so] much fun to see those kids laughing and enjoying,” George reported.
Big Five Tanzania awarded Elineema a scholarship to pursue his master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Mwenge Catholic University in Moshi. Elineema was a high school history teacher who started an astronomy club for his students. Now, he serves as director for the Mt. Meru Astronomical Observatory (MMAO).

Big 5 Tanzania awarded Rehema a scholarship to continue her education at Makumira Secondary School in Usa River. At age 9, she was one of six children in her family when she was sent 300 miles away to be a house maid. Instead, her adoptive family sent her to primary school with their own children. Rehema dreams of becoming a teacher someday.
Big 5 Tanzania supports David’s advanced-level education at Ilboru Secondary School in Arusha. A gifted student, David is one of five children in his family, and his mother struggles to pay his school fees. He excels in science and plans to become an engineer.
Big 5 Tanzania awarded an entrepreneurial grant to Gilbert in Kikatiti. He was able to purchase a computer, printer, and paper for his small business, Two in One Stationary. His services are used by schools, churches, and the local community.
Big 5 Tanzania partnered with Kyosei Foundation to create Girls’ Hope, a healthcare initiative that provides menstruation kits and instruction to 350 girls at Kyosei Primary School, Kinana Secondary School, and within the Terrat Ward community. This project seeks to improve sanitation and keep girls in school. With continued support, the project is poised to expand to other schools in the coming years.
