Education in 2026
Big 5 Tanzania sponsors 11 primary school students at Kyosei English Medium School in Terrat Ward, near Arusha. The school provides education and community support for low-income families. Instruction is in English.
Big 5 Tanzania supports George Sewi throughout his 2nd year at Mzumbe University in Morogoro. He pursues a degree in accounting.
His latest text to Big 5: “I will be staying at my aunts in Dar es Salam since it is close to the university. I think I did alright because I tried my best. Accommodations are nothing I can’t manage.”
Big 5 Tanzania continued investing in Dativa as she studies physics, chemistry, and biology at Zogowale Secondary School. She dreams of becoming a nephrologist.
We welcomed 2 new students, Clinton and Christian, twin boys in memory of their sister, Emiliana Longoria, one of our former scholarship students.
Big 5 Tanzania supports David’s advanced-level education at Ilboru Secondary School in Arusha. David has proven himself as a gifted student. He excels in science and plans to become an engineer. He graduates in May from Form 6 and will seek a university.
Big 5 Tanzania supports Rehema at Makumira Secondary School in Usa River. Successful at her National exams, Rehema moved onto Form 3. She dreams of becoming a teacher someday.
Supporting siblings Vivian and Dickson at Enyorata Primary, a government English medium school.
Big Five invested in Eusibia for a 2nd year, who studies chemistry, biology, and geography at Lurarawa Secondary School. She plans to become a rural development officer.
Entrepreneurship in 2026
Big 5 Tanzania continues to support Happy and Anastasia, two tailors, with salaries. They have been hired by Kyosei Foundation to support the Girls’ Hope initiative as well as contract student uniforms. We met with Happy in January 2026 to understand her business and challenges.
Big Five Tanzania found Jenipha John’s business plan to be sound and worthy of investment. With additional capital she could address the retail location, signage and marketing needed to grow her business and succeed.
Healthcare in 2026
Big 5 Tanzania partnered with Kyosei Foundation to continue Girls’ Hope for the 2nd year. This healthcare initiative provides menstruation kits and instruction for another 350 girls at Kyosei Primary School, Kinana Secondary School, and within the Terrat Ward community. This project seeks to improve sanitation and keep girls in school. With continued support, the project is poised to expand to other schools in the coming years.
Anna Sululu was accepted at Kigamboni City College of Health Sciences to pursue radiology. Her first term put her head of the class when recommended to Big Five. She is in her second term of her first of three years. Healthcare + Education is a win-win!
Wemaeli Temba was recommended by the Arusha Medical Center as an exceptional nursing student. Big Five invested in Wema’s 2nd term of her first year of three. Her interest is in pediatrics and she acheived a 1st class GPA in her first term. Healthcare + Education = win-win!
